A teenage gang left a woman shaken after car-jacking her at knife-point in Oldham, kicking off a mini crime spree which included a Police car ending up on its roof.
Greater Manchester Police have said they were first called to reports of a woman being car-jacked at knifepoint on Brookhill Close in Oldham at around 6.15pm on Monday (14th September).
It’s understood the victim, believed to be in her 50’s, was left shaken by the attack which saw her dragged out of her Audi Q7 after being threatened with a large knife before the gang made off in her car.
A Toyota Yaris is also thought to have been used in the incident, helping the rest of the gang escape.
Officers gave chase but lost the stolen car and became involved in a chase with the Yaris.
That chase was brought to an end through a tactical collision which left the police car on it’s roof. The two officers inside did manage to escape and arrested a 15-year old boy on suspicion of robbery and dangerous driving.
He remains in custody for questioning.
The two police officers suffered minor injuries during the collision but didn’t go to hospital for treatment.
Shortly afterwards, the stole Audi Q7 was involved in a crash with a bus and two parked cars on Charlestown Road in Blackley with those in the car making off on foot.
Greater Manchester Police are now appealing for anyone with information including any dashcam footage or CCTV to contact them on 0161 856 8994, quoting incident number 2570 of 14th September 2020. Information can also be passed on anonymously to the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
