Pawsome pup left behind in escape from police in Ashton

GMP Tameside have posted a public message to a "bad driver" who legged it from Ashton officers and abandoned their dog in the process.

The full post on Facebook said:

"Dear Bad driver, whilst making off from the police not only did you leave your VW Golf behind you also left your drugs and passenger behind.

"If you’d like your dog back nip in to Ashton police station and we can discuss why you failed to stop and what the crack is with the drugs.

"Proof of ownership needed. We’ll look after him for now."

Fans of the bulldog have been expressing their adoration of the four-legged friend - particularly after a photo of his walk to "prevent any accidents in the sergeant's office".

One comment even suggested the dog should be recruited as the force's next police dog!
