Home buyers have been camping outside the sales office at Gleeson Homes in Rochdale to ensure they are the first on the list to purchase the new properties.
The firm are selling houses on their new Hill Top Park development from Saturday 1st June 2019 on a first come first serve basis.
The main attraction appears to be the price of the properties that are going up for sale this weekend.
Gleeson Homes haven’t made clear how much they will charge but campers claim some properties will be sold for around £160,000, which they believe is very reasonable.
According to residents in the area, food has ordered to the cars of waiting purchasers and families have been swapping on night shifts to ensure they have first dibs on the property they want.
One woman who has been camping on Balderstone Road since Monday (27th May) said, “People are waiting here so they’re first to buy a house, Gleeson have put this rule in place because it’s the fairest way.
My family are taking turns, my mum and my brother do the night shift and me and my sister are here during the day.
We’re hoping it’s between one and two weeks that they will give us more information and that’s how long were going to wait.”
Home buyers have made their own signs placed in their cars, to make sure people joining the queue know exactly which plot they are wanting.
The two, three and four-bedroom homes, are part of the new development and regeneration plan developed by Rochdale Borough Council.
