Rochdale MP Tony Lloyd has taken to social media to express his anger about the unexpected closure of the Personal Independence Payment assessment centre in Rochdale.
The local MP has written to Therese Coffey MP asking for an explanation and what steps she will take to ensure the service is reinstated in Rochdale.
Revolution news spoke to Tony Lloyd MP, he said, "I want to see a comprehensive service, so the people who need this help can get it.
"Like most people I find it astonishing that the centre is closed, no notice given to anybody, not the council or the wider community.
"This will affect people who may have their own difficulties and those who can't easily get around. It is simply not acceptable."
I've written to Thérèse Coffey MP regarding the PIP assessment centre at Rochdale Infirmary, which has been closed. This will have a severe impact on sick and disabled claimants who will have to travel outside of the Borough to attend assessments.— Tony Lloyd (@tony4rochdale) October 7, 2019
