Despite the transfer window only been open a matter of hours Oldham Athletic are understood to have made their first addition to the squad by strengthening both their defence and midfield options.
According to French newspaper Le Parisien, defensive midfielder Mohamad Sylla is set to put pen to paper on a deal at the Boundary Park.
The 25-year old has been plying his trade at Sannois-Saint-Gratien in the French Championnat National, known as the third tier of professional football in France.
The newspaper is reporting he’s signed a one-and-a-half-year deal with Oldham Athletic and quote him as saying: “A dream comes true, loose the interested, already on the spot. Yesterday (Tuesday) I went to see a game at home, it’s crazy the number of spectators and the craze that exists here.”
So far there has been no word from Oldham Athletic to confirm the move.
It won’t be the first time Latics’ supporters will have to learn a new French name, since taking over at the club a year ago, owner Abdallah Lemsagam, has signed Johan Branger from Championnat National 2 side FC Dieppe.
