With the transfer window just a few days old, Oldham Athletic appear to be already working hard to try and keep hold of some members of their squad amid their renewed push for a place in the playoffs.

Sky Sports News is reporting that League One Scunthorpe United have had a bid, believed to be in region of £200,000, rejected for Latics’ defender George Edmundson.

The 21-year old, who made the break into the first team after progressing through the club’s youth academy, has made 33 appearances so far this season, scoring once during the 3-1 win at home against Cambridge United.

It was only in the summer when Edmundson signed a new two-year deal at Boundary Park having made his debut for the club last season after being recalled from a loan spell at AFC Fylde.

However, it’s understood Scunthorpe United aren’t the only team interested in securing the services of the 21-year old.

The likes of Wigan Athletic, Fleetwood Town, Peterborough United and Preston North End are all believed to be keeping tabs on the defender’s progress although they are yet to make an official approach to Oldham Athletic.
