Lyden leaves Latics heads back to Villa

Jordan Lyden (Blue shirt) playing against Fulham in FA Cup

Oldham Athletic have confirmed midfielder Jordan Lyden’s time at Boundary Park has come to an end with the striker being recalled by his parent club Aston Villa.

The 22-year old arrived in the North West in the summer, signing a loan deal until January which has now come to an end.

During his time with Latics, Lyden made 14 appearances for the club, scoring once during a 3-1 win at home to Cambridge United back in November.

His departure leaves Oldham Athletic with limited options up front having already lost Sam Surridge, who returned to Bournemouth on Monday (7th January) with a possible loan move to League One Bradford City being talked about, and Ishmael Miller being released from the club last week.

Lyden’s last game for Oldham Athletic came during their dramatic 2-1 win at Craven Cottage against Fulham in the FA Cup third round.
