Rochdale’s fixtures for the opening month of the season are now complete after they found out who they’ve been paired with in the first round of the Carabao Cup.
Dale will welcome newly relegated to League One Bolton Wanderers to the Crown Oil Arena, marking their first local derby of the season and the third time they’ll face the former Premier League side by the time the season draws to a close.
Rochdale have had some success in the League Cup in recent years, they made it past the first-round last season beating Grimsby Town 2-0 at Blundell Park before eventually going down to a 2-1 defeat at Championship side Middlesbrough in the second round.
This time they’ll be hoping to heap more misery on their opponents in Bolton, who are currently battling to save the club for liquidation.
It’s is thought the club will be saved and the trip to Rochdale in the Carabao Cup will go ahead.
The tie is due to take place during the week commencing Monday 12th August.
