Eight try win see Roughyeds go second

Oldham beat North Wales Crusaders 46-30 at the Vestacare Stadium today to regain second place in Betfred League 1, three points behind leaders Whitehaven.

Roughyeds scored eight tries in total, including a long-range gem by on-loan Wakefield Trinity winger Lee Kershaw, who had the speed and the confidence to go past two defenders on the outside and score from his own 20-metre zone.

Other tries were scored by man-of-the-match full-back Ritchie Hawkyard (2), second-row forward Danny Bridge, hooker Matty Wilkinson, prop Phil Joy and winger Harry Aaronson, who scored twice in the last ten minutes.

Crusaders pulled back from 34-14 to 34-26, at which time they had the attacking momentum, but a left-wing raid broke down, Aaronson capitalised to score his first try and Oldham never looked back.
