Rochdale Football Club have confirmed they’ve secured the return of defender Joe Bunney on loan from Northampton Town.

The 25-year old returns to the Crown Oil Arena until the end of the season.

The move seen Bunney return to Dale for the second time after having initially joined the club from Northwich Victoria back in 2013.

After making his debut for Rochdale, in a game which he also scored, on the final day of the 2012/2013 season, he went on to make almost 150 appearances during nearly five-years at the Crown Oil Arena.

The 25-year old then joined Northampton Town on a permanent deal a year ago and has spent the first half of this season on loan at League One Blackpool.

Speaking to Rochdale’s official website, Bunney said: “I don’t really like I’ve left – it has only been a year.”

“I’ve not had a lot of football in that year, so it’s good to be home.”

“I was promoted during my first season as a pro here, and I have a lot of good memories. I know what the manager expects from his players, so hopefully I can come in and hit the ground running.”
